Soldiers' letters, 1943-1946.

Letters written by soldiers mostly in military training or engaged in other military duties and stationed at forts in the United States. All had been Flushing residents. Some of the soldiers represented frequently in the collection are James A. Afflerbach, Robert D. Broadley, Eugene A. Burns, Robert A. Mead, Eugene Rathgeber, Robert A. Muller, William E. Nelson, Alfred E. Rinaldi, Jr., and Joseph N. Rogers. Most letters are addressed to Florence C. Rockefeller, a social studies teacher at Flushing High School, and describe soldier's military training and their friends from Flushing. Some discuss combat and occupation of Japan and Europe. A few photographs are also included.
